Custom-made Orthotics & Insoles, Balmain

Enhance comfort, improve alignment & boost performance.

Modern orthotics & innersoles for tailored comfort.

We have underwritten our contemporary approach to orthotic therapy with two decades of clinical experience. We believe that for the prevention and management of injury the foot should be assisted in replicating a normal range of movement (including pronation) via a flexible orthotic shell orthotic rather than blocking important movement patterns via a hard, unforgiving orthotic shell.

Customised orthotics (a bespoke arch support placed within the shoe) have been prescribed for decades to treat foot, leg and back pain and improve foot posture. The universal podiatric teaching is to minimise movement of the foot, particularly pronation (rolling in), with an orthotic device placed in the shoe. Our experience has led us to adopt a different way of orthotic prescription, one that encourages the foot to function within a normal range of motion.

By placing the foot into a neutral position via a flexible orthotic we allow muscles to fire as per normal, without reducing their ability to contribute to foot motion. The flexible orthotic will hold the foot where required, allow for a normal amount of pronation during mid stance and provide a spring-effect at toe-off. This ultimately leads to soft-tissue structures around the foot, ankle and lower limb to be unloaded, without over-correction or disrupting the normal gait pattern.

Emily & Trent have contributed to the recovery and performance of thousands of motivated humans, including the world’s top athletes. Their ability to help their patients overcome injury and achieve personal bests has helped them grow a strong referral network and word of mouth business, as well as be invited to work with elite teams and individuals.

Emily & Trent utilise their years of experience with the latest technology & research to astutely assess and identify the underlying problem, then create an effective management plan that may include short term pain management modalities, customised orthotic prescription, strength and flexibility exercises, soft tissue release, gait retraining, running technique tweaking and footwear recommendations.

Our orthotics are always springy to deliver shock absorption and with the support and guidance you need for optimal foot motion. We use the necessary orthotic features such as heel spur donuts, plantar fascia grooves, additional paddings and metatarsal domes at no extra charge, to get the right results. With an adjustment lab onsite and our orthotic lab local to Sydney, we are able to offer a quick turnaround on urgent orders.

Our Sports Podiatrists have mastered the science of orthotics.

Our orthotics are backed by experience, designed for performance.

Customised Sports Orthotics

After a comprehensive biomechanical and injury assessment, custom orthotics may be prescribed to help offload pressure, redistribute load, cushion impact, and realign the foot, ankle, and knee. Each pair is crafted using a precise 3D scan of your feet, paired with a highly specialised prescription tailored to your unique needs and movement patterns. Our bespoke orthotics are designed to fit seamlessly into any shoe with a removable liner — including running shoes, netball trainers, golf and tennis shoes, football boots, gym shoes, hiking boots, and casual sneakers — so you get the support you need, wherever life takes you.

Customised Dress Orthotics

We understand the fashion needs of our patients. Following the biomechanical assessment we can create a slim line orthotic that is made via a 3D scan of your feet with modified dimensions to fit appropriate dress shoes, flats, boots, on-trend sneakers and men's business shoes.

Off-the-shelf Innersoles

Emily Braidwood insoles are designed to support and cushion the foot in any style of shoe where a customised orthotic won’t fit including high heels, ballet flats, sandals, football boots, running spikes and are skin-stickable for barefoot activities i.e. barre, dance and martial arts. Founded by our very own Emily Smith, visit www.emilybraidwood.com for more information or speak to your practitioner. RRP $49.95.

How can orthotics / insoles help?

It’s a common misconception that sports shoes provide arch support. While some may have a firmer midsole to help prevent the shoe from collapsing in the arch area, this doesn’t provide the same effect as arch contouring support.

That’s where orthotics and insoles come in. They offer a targeted, customised solution — delivering support, cushioning, and comfort exactly where your body needs it, and avoiding unnecessary bulk where it doesn’t. It's personalised support that your shoes alone simply can’t provide.

With over two decades of experience working with active individuals and elite athletes, Trent and Emily have seen it all. Orthotics and insoles are just one part of their expert toolkit — used strategically to support better movement, faster recovery, and lasting results.

With an experienced-backed, modern approach to orthotic therapy, orthotics can be beneficial for a wide range of people. Orthotics can be a powerful solution if you:

  • Experience ongoing foot pain or conditions such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, Morton’s neuroma, Achilles tendinopathy, lateral ankle sprains, stress fractures, Sever’s disease, shin splints, or knee pain

  • Need extra support or cushioning for less supportive footwear like dress shoes, street sneakers, football boots, or dance shoes

  • Have atypical foot structures, such as very flat feet or high arches

  • Feel like your feet or body need more support during daily activity or sport

  • Want to prevent injury or enhance athletic performance

  • Experience pain, tightness, or fatigue when standing, walking, or exercising for long periods

  • Wake up with foot pain or stiffness after rest

  • Have children who are pigeon-toed, trip frequently, are hypermobile, or experience growing pains at night

Whether you're managing a specific condition, trying to stay pain-free, or optimising performance, Trent and Emily take a personalised approach to orthotic therapy — designed to fit not only your feet, but your shoes and your goals.
